You can now read my story "The Flight of the Rose Butterfly" over on Torn World. This is the first story posted (though I have another drafted that happens earlier) that features my character Rai, twin brother of ellenmillion's character Bai. It shows their introduction to a popular musical instrument, the harmonichron. This is also a good example of how they cope with Rai's visual handicap. Check out the lovely pen-and-ink illustration that ellenmillion drew for it!
If you like this story and want to see more of these characters, please consider sending me credits or karma through Torn World's crowdfunding options. Same goes if you like the art; tip the artist. My guest post "For Better or Verse: Writing Short Fiction and Poetry" is now online, courtesy of Jon Gibbs who did a lovely job with the layout. Please drop by there, read the essay, and leave a comment. This is one of my guest posts for the poetry books' launch period. It focuses on the science fiction side and thus connects with Prismatica: Science Fiction Poetry Spanning the Spectrum.
For this exercise, we're going to explore using a science article to generate science fiction. You can write a short story, a poem, or whatever you like.
The "Serial Poetry" page has been updated. There are links to new poems with their prompters and sponsors from the March 1, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl. I have also added two science fiction series that I forgot to include earlier, "Alien Ants and Butterflies" and "Poems About Phobic Starships."
